Hi all,
Just wondering if many fish are coming off the mid-channel wrecks (off South Devon)?
I hear the water has cleared up a little bit so hopefully the fish are making a comeback!

Cheers,
Sam :)

Cheers chaps. Went out on my usual boat, the Becca Marie (Brixham) yesterday... First wreck and we were pulling in loads of half decent whiting, bout 2-4lbs in size. A few nice pollock came up and on the last wreck, there were 4 ling caught. All of decent size, with the biggest weighing in at 24.5lbs!
Great trip out, water clearing up nicely, we could see the lure descending at about 25ft! Lovely and calm too.

Was it you we saw out there wurp? Had a few nice ling ourselves. Plenty of pollack showing now they have only just finished spawning so got plenty of fight back in them too. Water clarity, greatly improved as well which helps, most of the wrecks that seemed bare are all comming alive now. Several cod showing too which is nice to see.

Good luck on your Channel Island trip, Mr. Fish!

And Sprocker, that's the skerries trip isn't it?
I bet the fishing will be picking up very soon... I think plaice are being caught there at the mo in fairly large numbers... Hopefully the season has well and truely started now the water has cleared up! :)

Seem to be plenty of plaice about at the moment good average size for this time of year too, we took the day off Thursday and sat on the skerries for the afternoon ended up with 19 to two rods water was still a little cloudy but much improved from a couple of weeks ago.

Nice one! I'm out to the Skerries on Monday... I'm hoping with the Dartmouth Plaice Festival this weekend it won't affect the fishing too much!

Cheers,
Sam :)

Plenty of reports of decent numbers of plaice being landed now so looking good for the plaice festival. Weather looking like Saturday will be fine but very blowy on the Sunday although the easterlies may take them off the bite a bit. Monday looks good for your trip though so good luck. We went wrecking yesterday and the water was back to normal almost crystal clear with loads of cracking pollack showing in the high teens.

That's good to hear!
It's been decided that we'll go wrecking for ling again on Monday now, so i'll need to go and buy some more 6/0 lure/feather things! (Whatever they're called).
Might see you out there, hopefully not too choppy on Monday!
