Hi folks, I'm new to WSF and based in Inverness. Having been a freshwater angler all my life I've only recently started to get into sea fishing but I'm really enjoying the new experiences. The local area isn't the best and I've had to travel a bit for any real success. I will try my best to answer people's posts but with limited knowledge based only on my experiences in the last few months I will mostly be the one in need of help haha. Cheers guys

Haha here I am!!!!

Don't believe the fishing is no good near us.
Some great fishing if you don't mind Flounders.
Try Nairn near the Bathing pool.
3 hook flappers with size 1 or 2 hooks, lug tipped with mackerel lobbed in the surf.
Had 20 odd fish on occasions.

Fort William not to far away and good for a variety of species.
Loch Duich another good place but not my favourite.

There is a club in Inverness called Leachkin Angling club.
They have regular shore meets and friendly competitions if your interested.

See how you get on, keep posting reports and if you want any help then ask no bother mate.
Cheers, Leo.

Thanks alot Leo, I will mabye investigate the Leachkin club. Probably best of I watch and learn from folk that know their stuff. I've tried nairn before but didn't really know what I was doing and blanked..Is it more of a summer venue or will the flounder stillbe in the surf during the winter? Thanks, Andreas

Should pick up a few all year round but better as it starts to warm up a bit.
Usually find that between say April and October are peak times for numbers but between October and say now good chance of a bigger one.
Best conditions are a slight on shore blow with a small surf running, don't cast too far they really do come in close.
Start at low water or just before and then remember where the gullies are as the tide floods and try and cast into them.
Lug tipped with mackerel or just plain mackerel strip works fine on a 3 hook flapper.
I use a six foot trace with a hook length top, middle and bottom.
Hook length about 20 inches with a size 2 kamasan B940 tied onto Amnesia nylon 20lb red in colour with a small yellow bead as a bait stop.
Heavy rain and long spells of it can make the fish harder to catch as can snow melt water, I think it puts them off the feed so use slightly smaller baits after heavy rain or snow melt, the fish are there you just have to work harder to catch them!!
Refresh your baits every fifteen minutes or so to keep a good scent trail going.
Fishing at night can be better but I have had good catches during daylight so don't panic about night fishing yet.
Have fun, keep at it and it all comes together eventually.
If your interested in the club let me know and I will find out more for you.
Cheers, Leo.
