Fished Soutbourne beach last night from 18:00 to 22:30.High tide was about 21:45. Southwesterly winds and a slight chop to the sea. Fished a mackeral fillet on a 3/0 pennel at 25 yards and ragworm at 70 yards. Not a touch on the ragworm but this Turbot (my first) took the mackeral fillet. Not only took it but swallowed it as well, so a tap on the head and that was my dinner for today.

That was it, one bite, one fish, but still an enjoyable evening.

Thanks guys. I think next time I'll just stick the two rods out with big fillet baits on, and hope the bass are around as well. Since fishing at West Bexington last year and using 4/0 pennel hook traces and whole squid to get my 6.5lb personal best bass I am now a fan of big baits and hooks.. :)
