As my best mate couldn't come to Wales this weekend, I fished alone. On that basis I stayed away from my favourite rock marks and stayed on the "safer" stuff.
Friday morning, went to Borth y Gest on low tide. Put out a 3 hook flapper on my new beachcaster with a variety of bait. I started to set up my spinning rod to try a bit of plugging, got a clonking bite on the beachcaster, dropped the spinner and landed a feisty 2lb bass taken on lug. Not even 6,00am yet. Well happy. As it happens, didn't get another bite before I left at 9.00am.
Saturday morning went to Pwllheli. Put out 2 beachcasters. Only bite I got was as I was breaking the first of the 2 rods to go home. Result? 1 smallish dog.
Went out today back to Borth y Gest and blanked. Went to Trefor pier for an hour this afternoon and did no good until once again I started to pack up. Got a little knock (which tbh I thought was probably a crab) and reeled in a poor cod.
Not the most prolific of weekends, even for me. But I got out, learned some more (especially on the spinning rod as I put some lures through their paces and watched them work) and enjoyed myself enormously.
