I got hold of a second hand century G5 supa sport and the shrink tube on it was a bit tatty so i took it off to reveal underneath what i think is resin of some sort that use to hold a reel seat in place and i cant get it off its no major problem because i will be putting some shrink tube on it again but it may be a bit bumppy with that there, any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it? Try pouring boiling water over it....that might soften it enough to remove it.
Otherwise a good rub down with some fine sandpaper should do the trick.

If it's epoxy resin glue, which is normally used to fix reel seats in position, it'll be rock hard and difficult to remove. Try scraping it with a knife and then finishing off with wet and dry paper such as is used on car bodies and use it wet.

I recently did a rod and changed the foam grips to shrink wrap.

With some help from the helpful people on this site ended up removing the epoxy resin that was on the butt section, using a stanley knife blade and taking the resin off in fine cuts/slivers, a little like filleting a fish. You have to be carefull and you do get through the blades though, and finish rod off with some fine sand paper.
