Hello,

I wanted thank all the guys that helped with my enquiry last night over fishing from a speedbaot.....to keep you posted, the speedboat is now up for sale!! I wont be using it for fishing.

However (!!!), I have found something that might meet my needs of just the odd day out maybe a mile or two of the coast for some light fishing and fun with a friend and the better half. Nothing fancy.

I have posted link to the item and would value very much, any thoughts and comments on the boat, Etc.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fisherman-13-...0098614706QQcategoryZ1296QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

As stated, It would only be used for the two of us, at a push three of us in the summer for no more than a mile or two off the east anglian coast for mackerel/bass/light bottom fishing.

Your thoughts and comments awaited.

(I have been in touch with the seller who works in a boatyard, and he has been using for the last year from the Essex coast and says it's fine)

Thanks

Would it be possible for you to talk over the phone s you seem so knowledgable and helpful and could be just the man I need to help me on this boat and any queries that I may have?

I would be eternally grateful if that would be possible.

Bear in mind that boat will need a short shaft engine. Make sure you can get one of the right size before you buy.
Anything over 40hp in a short shaft isn't easy to find-been there done that with a Microplus.
Specifically with them go over the cockpit floor fireglass with your fist and thump it-any soft spots then run-they are a wood/fibreglass sandwich and if it's soft it's going to be a lot of work.

indeedy, I've got an oyster 16, the one with the cuddy etc and its built like a battleship and stable as anything, I'd guess that one will make 12 to 1500 quid or more

my first boat was a dejon 14, had great fun in it, 3 up can get a bit crowded, but there's quite a few around on ebay at the mo (do a search for dejon), some just boat and trailer, one went for just 200 quid last week. we took ours all over the west coast of scotland, often 4 or 5 miles out an was always reliable. it had a johnson 40 on the back so was quite brisk(!) if you opened it up, far too big an engine for the boat really, but it came with it and was fun

the oyster is a big heavy boat though, and not the best thing if you're gonna trailer it around regularly, ours sits in the marina now, and we bought a sehog for adventures 'away'
