Hi Guys,

I am currently in the process of coding a new App for the iPhone, centred around Sea Angling.

I have been Sea Angling now for a couple of years, and absolutely love it, hence the need for me to write this App, if only for my own use!!

The App will be completely free, and will encompass the following features:

  • Log Your Catch Functionality
  • Favourite Locations Functionality
  • Tide times for your favourite ports / locations
  • Photo Album of catches
  • Trip Manager (Giving history, weather, tides etc)

You will be able to quickly take a photo of your catch, which will be timestamped, the current GPS co-ordinates will be added, it will be added to the current 'trip' album, as well as giving you the option to record such things as weight and baits/tactics used.
It will automatically save the state of the tide, based on your location etc, with these details - So if it was a rising / falling tide, the time before top / bottom / etc - and approx height based on the tide chart(s). Also the barometric pressure, wind speed and direction etc - ALL by itself!!

It will have a feature for you to have the tide times for your multiple locations automatically appear and sync on your calendar, making this info viewable from your home lock screen and other devices that sync with the device.

Anybody any feedback, or other features that could be included?

Gracias

Sounds great but I don't think some of the secretive bass anglers would appreciate exact GPS locations being revealed, we know how narky they get when someone finds "their" spot lol

I would certainly use it though so nice one

If they won't reveal marks, then they won't be the ones using the app. It would be great for looking for catching more specimens.

I would use it to decide where to go. The tide feature would be great if it's location based, as I have to estimate for Cleethorpes (use Spurn times), Humber bridge (Hull plus a bit) and Hornsea (about half hour on Bridlington).

Ability to enter catches while offline would be useful, as some beaches do not have good, if any reception.

'tackle used' feature would be good too, as it's useful to know which rod, reel and rig was used

iPhone 4 compatible (6.1.3) would help too, NOT 7

The default will be to keep locally ONLY.

In order to share the info, you will need to opt in within the App.
Each 'trip' can be opted in or out of sharing.

So some trips you may want to share, others you may not.

Thanks for the feedback guys and please keep the feedback coming.

I should have a pre-release BETA in the coming weeks, so will be wanting about 20/30 'test' users that I can give a redemption code to so that they can test the app before others and give feedback :)

More info coming soon ...
