Looking for advice on a new lure rod, as my SG Bushwhacker snapped . Good excuse for a new rod though . will be looking to spend about £150, can spend more if needed . Think the Bushwhacker was 10-35g . I fish rock marks mostly, but also fish estuaries and surf beaches . Use hard lures and soft, planning to try more metal lures in the surf this year . But that could be another excuse for another rod on top of this one🤔😀

Savage Gear SGS5 9ft up to 35g. My starter rod for getting into lure fishing for bass...started a slippery slope into buying higher end rods! ;)

But a great all-rounder rod for under £150. I know a lot of people knock these rods but it served me really well and still get use for chucking in camper when on holidays.

Also landed my biggest shirley on it at 7lb 🙂

Just to add some balance, I have the Ceana and hated it, 3 sessions and couldn’t get on with it at all so it was traded. Just felt unbalanced and lacked sensitivity to me.

I think the Favorite Cobalt is similar money and that gets a lot of love. I have some of the more expensive Favorite rods and they are superb. There is a rather lovely SGS 6 8ft 3in for 7-25g which is a peach of a lighter/estuary rod, some places have been knocking they out very cheap too.

[/QI’ll take a look
I have not seen the Favorite rods before, I'll have to look into them . The SGS 6 7-25g sounds a really good rod for the lighter lures. Thanks for the information .

I have the MajorCraft Firstcast , I think it is the rod just above the Ceana in price , they come in different lengths, I have the 9’6” . It has now served me for my first 4 seasons very well indeed . Rated 10-30 , if there is any minor criticism it is that it feels a little overloaded with a 30g Seeker . That aside I have found it perfect for all situations . Well within your budget , think around £125 . I bought it after reading the H Gilbey review .
