Hello everyone

I have just moved to Blackpool (South Shore) and am keen to start shore fishing. Because of disability I need places where you can park the car, and not walk too far, either in Blackpool etc or further afield.

I have been recommended to try the Gynn Wall, and I know where that is (I think). Can you park down there?, I drove down a road sort of between two sea walls but didn't see anyone fishing (is that the right place?)

Not a sea fishing expert, but coarse fished for years (Living too far from the coast).
So if anyone has any recommendations and/or tips that might help me out I would be very grateful.

Also another question - Are the charter boats out of Fleetwood worth a trip?

Oh and which tackle shops do you recommend for advice/bait etc. At the moment I tend to use Ted Carter in Preston as I work near there.

Sorry for so many questions from a newcomer

Thanks

Ed

Hi Ed and welcome to the sight - I am also a relative newcomer but will start the ball rolling.

There are plenty of marks in the area which you can fish literally from the car.
The Gynn wall is accessable from the gynn square roundabout all the way up to cleveleys (anchorsholme) - I am sure that one of the lads will paste you a map.

The promanade at the south end of cleveleys (anchorsholme) is also a car friendly mark - but watch out for the after dark activities (unless that is your thang)

I live in Preston and find Ted Carters superb but there are plenty of other outlets nearby.
West Coast Tackle in clevelys to name one.
There are a few bait diggers in the area who offer an alternative to using the shops - The only one I have used is Dave form Fleetwood who normally has a good supply of all you should need - 07818440585 - 01253873917.

Hope it goes well and you enjoy your fishing - Sean

Hi Ed and welcome to wsf, the home of idiots!!

The gynn wall will soon become your favourite spot, it throws up alsorts. A few other places are north shore at Heysham, the north end of Morcambe prom ,Sandside Rd near Arnside or the Bullnose at Preston docks (though I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than fish there). All these marks can be fished out of the car.
Just thought, there's quite a few marks on the Mersey that you can fish out of the car as well.

Hope this helps.

Jason.

hello ed and welcome to the WSF NW forum

if using the gynn wall your best of going on at princess way at little bispham {by the boat club } and following the wall back towards Blackpool ,

if you read the post on baits on here then there's some shops closer to you and cheaper than carters which is alright but dear

the other place i will advise you to try is fairhaven car park in ansdell {lytham } night tides anything over 29 ft high tides see blue bar at top of page and go to venues then NW it will give you some more info
as to the charter boats every one uses the blue mink he beaches near the pier in fleetwood and you board from there I'm sure someone has a number and more details on this for you

I'm sure if you need to no anything else all you need to do is ask good bunch of lads on here that are always willing to help out matey

also if you want marks around other places you can travel pm sallysludgebucket {Jo} and she will help out with disabled marks

Welcome Ed
See the thread on Fairhaven today..... depending on your disability it may or may not be good for you as the wall along the car park there is about 4ft - 4ft 6 high but you can fish right next to your car though.
Good luck to you and I hope you have tighter lines than mine have been lately.

Thanks for all the replies - still haven't finished sorting the new house out yet so may not be able to get out for a couple of weeks - but been getting a bit of new kit together in anticipation, new rods, tripod etc - even bought some raw tiger prawns for emergency bait in Asda tonight after reading the threads on the baits forum.

Cheers

hiya john

welcome to the WSF and NW forums :)

i did use to fish here a lot {only living a couple of miles down the rd}try using simple rigs without any beads and a rolling lead{no grip wires},
frozen black works well if left to go smelly then tip with macky ,
as an alternative try common garden lob worms :secret::thumbs:

Hi Ed, I'm not to good at walking at the moment as i've just had a hip replacement but got some info of the lad's about fishing the north wall at Heyshame, with bait's as black lug rag and mac, rig's pennel size 1 hook's or two hook clip down size1, If the weather is ok on 26th were fishing. To get ther head for Heysham then turn right at all freight traffic. I'll try and find the site what showed me how to get there and send you a P.M.:fishing:

Hi and welcome. You could also try the Glitter ball south shore not far to go and just a 10 yard walk. The glitterball is usually a summer mark but should start fishing for flats and the odd early Bass soon. I spend half my life there in summer with it being so close.
