The 2018 Open took place on a fairly calm, sunny and showery day with a north westerly breeze. With the boundaries spreading between Tynemouth and Seahouses there were plenty of opportunities for all.
372 (Including 16 Juniors) anglers took part in the competition. Of these:
106 weighed in:- 149 cod, 1 dogfish, 2 turbot, 16 flounders, 2 coalies, and 2 dabs for an overall weight of 424lb7.2oz.
First was S Dixon with 7 fish for 25lb 0.9oz, from Marden Rocks.
Second was Billy Foster with 4 fish for 15lb 2.1 oz from Marden Rocks
Third was Graham Turner with 4 fish for 11lb 12.6oz from Marden Rocks
Heaviest fish prizes were won by:
Bobby Surtees with his cod of 6lb 1.6oz from Seahouses
George Hornsby with 5lb 11.8oz from Howick
J Parker with 5lb 9.6oz
The lady winner was Samantha Richardson with 1lb 11.8oz
And the junior winner was Conrad Millard with a nice cod of 3b 9.0oz from Craster.
The Heaviest Flattie prize was won with a lovely Turbot of 2lb 12oz by Lexie Watson fishing Warkworth
