Had 3 bass between the two of us 1.5 - 2 lbs. Not much in the way of surf and millions of little sandeels around. One of the fish was gutted and found to be stuffed with them. Needless to say we didn't have any sandeel for bait - used lug, crag and frozen razor (lug was the best). Bites every cast but many of them very quick/gentle - all an hour either side of low water.
Personally speaking, in grave danger of becoming permanently nocturnal and am contemplating the horror of dawn sessions. I am starting to discover the obsessive tendencies associated with surf bassing and could become an addict. Clive Gammon, you have a lot to answer for.

Knackered and blissed out,

Rhod.

Hi Rhod if you want to collect sandeel for bait, at low water find a patch of wet sand and liquify it by gently stamping your feet, the sandeel should then appear and its a case of grabbing them and putting them on the hook. Ive had most of my bass from newgale after sundown on the left hand side by the caravan park, its best to fish the incoming tide.
