Hi,

Can anyone give me a guide of when the whiting will be off and when the species arrive in the next coming months and what are they?

Hi the whiting are never too far away all year round ! From march you can target thorn back rays with fish baits . Also from March the bass start to appear and then in summer it is smooth hounds . Autumn will see whiting in greater numbers and the start of the cod.

Any idea on mackerel and mullet?
Hopefully the mackerel start to show early April but that's not always a given. Mullet tend to be after the first bass in the Thames so start looking say in May but the back end of the summer is usually the best time.

Feb to Apr = Plaice

Mar to Oct = Thornbacks

Mar to Oct = Bass

Mar to April = Cod spring run

May to Sept = Sole

Sept to Feb = COD :)

Not set in stone, but a good guide for the worthy species I allow to grace my hooks.

I wouldn't mind betting that this year will be different, everything has been change due to the conditions.
