Just got back from fishing the big spring tide today.
Skipper Steve (who is DEFINITELY not selling up), took us to a few marks off Aberthaw where the rip wasn't too bad.
Fishing Lug, tipped with Squid and Cuttle fish.
We managed around 7 or 8 cod, half a dozen woofers, 5 straps and wait for it...
Here it comes...
The skipper landed a just under 9lb bass and also landed the sweepstake (of about 40quid) for the biggest fish of the day (not including congers). It put a massive smile on his face! Great fish - fought like a demon. I counted the rings on the scales and estimate it was around 10 years old.
So we're off again next monday looking for the last remaining cod and the first schoolies of the year...
Great day, fantastic weather, great company - s**t coffee - great tea.
Looking forward to Monday already.
Saw loads of people fishing the low on the way back at St Mary's Well bay - was it you? How did you get on.
Not seen so much rubbish in the water for a while - forest after forest had to be avoided on the way back to Penarth...
Cheers all,
Aub
