Hi folks.
After having a cracking first trip to north norway this summer, we are looking again for a destination for next years trip.
So.....the big question, where is your favourite destination? Many may say Loppa, Rost or Soroya, but the extra travel and costs put these places out of bounds.
Just after some input really, on peoples prefered choices and the types of fishing they have encountered, not after a "this place is better than that place" just personal opinions.
Also, if any replies, a quick summary of getting to getting to your destination once at Tromso, would be appreciated.
Cheers in advance.

We went there in July a few years ago through Dintur and to be honest you would be hard pushed to get a better venue or host. Around 1.5 hrs drive from Trommso airport, only 2 flights internally which if booked well in advance are cheap as chips.

Car rental is not that cheap and to be honest once you are there you don't need the car again so you may like to look into bus links which are very good when ferry connections etc are involved.

Havnnes is an island and there is a short ferry crossing to get there but being on an island makes it more fun. The fishing there is spot on with good sized Cod, Coalfish, Wolfies, Plaice, Haddock, Torsk, Redfish and Halibut on offer.

The host Hege speaks Engligh fluently and is very accommodating at making sure your stay goes smoothly, the venue itself is beautiful with the Lyngen Alps close by and the accommodation is first class. Look at the recent reports for this venue and see for yourself, I believe that you will have good fishing without the commercialism of Skervoy and other such fishing camps which are in the locality.

Has to be Havnnes for me as well - first time there this year and have already booked for next year.
The fishing was excellent (you'll see a few posts below from myself and others who have fished there this year) and the accommodation could not be faulted, neither the boats (19ft tinnies).

Hege is a superb host who cannot do enough for you (opening the shop when its' supposed to be shut was a regular occurance) and as Orcadian says she speaks really good english (I am going to try and teach myself some Norweigan for next year!:wiggle:

A really superb venue with lots of variety in terms of different fishing locations (Rotsund, Lyngen or even out to Arnoya) - I think we only lost one bad day to the weather. There always seemed to be somewhere to go and I think this is a massive factor when you may only have 5-6 days fishing because of the travelling.

The venue is around 1.5-2 hours drive from Tromso along decent roads which didn't seem to be too busy. Could either hire a car and drive yourself or you could arrange a transfer.

If you do try this venue you won't be disappointed!:clap2:

Contact Holger Buricke via the Troms Explorer website.
No not Troms Explorer in this instance.

He is considering setting up a completely new multi site service using base camps, mobile camps, 4x4's and boats on trailers.
The point being whatever the weather and wherever the fish you can go to them rather than being stuck in one location.

It sounds like a fabulous idea and I for one will be giving it a go.

Not sure I should be mentioning it at all as it was only discussed with me a few weeks ago, but it has to be the ultimate way to fish the entire area. Boat and shore fishing.

Having only been to 2 places in the last 3 years in northern norway Hammnidett twice and Havness once can only really comment on those 2 places.

Hammniedet was great, good tinnies large accomadtion and good location,

Havness was the best by far Hege the host is amazing she cant do enough for you very professionaly run great location great fishing and like people have said before she will open the shop all hours for you. Come in from fishing and leave you fuel tanks by the pump and they are filled pronto for you.

And the journey time from Tromso is good at only about 3 hours.

Havness for us lot again next year and thanks to Hege and her family they are just great
