Off to Skjervoy in July and going back to Saltstraumen next year. When do you go? Doesn’t seem to be as many Norway regulars on this site as few years ago which is a shame.

Hi all anyone going Norway this year seems very quiet on here ? Is there another forum with Norway reports being posted regularly? I’m going back to havnnes for my 9th or 10th time this July so am hoping for a fishy season!

We go on the 11th July which is the earliest I’ve ever been so will have to see how the halibut fishing is we have had great success there in September but cod have been thin on ground so hopefully the cod will be more abundant earlier on !?
Yes it’s a shame there are hardly any Norway posts anymore

Do you fish mainly writhin the fjords or try to push out to the open sea ?

Good luck at Havnnes Matt. I need to arrange to pick up some of my tackle left there are some point.
Year off for me this year but already booked in at Bergsfjord (Loppa Sea Fishing) for end of July next year and then hoping to get the same week in 2025 as well.
Guess the current cost of living is having an impact and that's why there may be less guys going to Norway now?

My first group of the season at Sandland arrived yesterday, their forecast isn't bad so I hope they have a good week...

We go outside the fjord when the weather permits but to be honest all our biggest fish have come inside the fjord though greater numbers out to sea not too worried if we don’t get outside. So many halibut marks inside the fjord and they will be about in July though as you said does getter better august/ September. This might be our last trip to Skjervoy as the transfers such a pain (4 hrs on a coach) and Saltraumen a doddle (30 min) with more species to go at and a great set up and the Saltraumen awesome in full flow! Off to our old haunt Arviksand at end of July
After a disappointing trip to A lofoten weather wise last year, hoping the weather gods are kinder to us.
Shame there’s not as much interaction on here now, but the historic threads are there and a great source of information

We must be out there the same sort of time? I was originally suppose to be at A as you know as you kindly gave me lot of maps and marks but got cancelled twice, 2nd time due to camp closing down and offered us Saltstraumen as an alternative. Admit was bit apprehensive but we needed our Norway fix and glad we went. There were quite a few groups from other camps who turned up there due to the weather not sure what the arrangement was but made me think if we hadn’t got cancelled we would of been stuck a shore first 3 days in lofoton so was a blessing as it turned out though know the coalfish fishing there off the scale if you get the weather. Sounds like you happened upon a good new venue at Saltstraumen , especially if you’re heading back there so it worked out well in the endWe must be out there the same sort of time? Thanks scott I'm on the mend now I had a heart attack 10 weeks ago was my main airtrie so lucky they managed to sort it I've had a stent fitted so hopefully with a few lifestyle changes I'll be OK. Next year we will be going back to Havoysund in July the last time we went in September we did fish every day but condition was harsh at times so we opted for July this tripSorry to hear about the health issues mate. Glad your on the mend mate. A few guys I go with are going this Sept but I love July in Norway. Decent weather and 24 hours of daylight. What dates you out there next year? Pot luck isn't it mate although in all the years I've been going I think I've only lost 1 day of fishing when booking in the 3rd and 4th weeks of July over a 12 year period. The weather we had last year was simply stunning. My mates are going the back end of September (from the 19th) so hope it holds for them.Went to Skjervoy in September couple years ago and must admit one of the best weeks for weather I’ve ever had out there though we was just very lucky!
