Launched from Port Eynon around 12:30, late start - daughters wedding reception last night! Things forgotten - charts, bait, bung amongst others. Remembered bung before the boat came off the trailer so that wasn't too bad. So first stop was for bait, nothing on the point. Shed loads around the Helwick buoy, more than enough for the day after 4/5 drifts. Next stop, telegraph lines off Oxwich, but with no charts unable to find exactly, so made a guess! Mackerel flapper on one rod, whole mackerel on the other. One conger of around 7/8 lb, one dogfish, and quite a few chewed mackerel later (only the heads came back in) it was time for another move. The wreck in Oxwich, one or two very small bites, unable to contact with anything, moved to just behind the moorings. Black bream, about 2 1/2 oz, again very small bites and it was off to Pull Du head. Quite choppy there, so didn't even drop anchor, back to the moorings! This time right in the middle of them. Two very good sized dabs, a big grey and a small tub gurnard, a growler, a small red mullet (fought like a monster!) and a starfish. Time to go home! Filleted the remaining mackerel back at Port Eynon before trailering the boat at around 8:00pm. Not too bad a day, no major mishaps, so very happy at getting out. Can't wait for the next time!
