As far as I can see WSF do not sell the headlamp I want to purchase (Tiga SL85) so I dont think this is against forum rules in competition with their own store.

A google search has got me a price around £185 with delivery, but most of these links seem to be from independant retailers who have a website rather than specialised online stores who may be cheaper.

Apart from local tackle shops what online stores are recommended for good value/delivery and range of stock

Why not ask your local shop if they can get you one in at the price advertised online elsewhere. Worst that can happen is that they say no.

Why go for outdated technology? Modern LED headlamps are far better than halogen or xenon or whatever bulb is in a Tiga.

Take a look at the weight of the Tiga, the battery pack alone is nearly 800gms with a burn time of about 6hrs. A Petzl Ultra will kick out much the same amount of light but weighs 350gms all in and burns for longer.

Up to you, but I know where my money goes now. OK the Petzl Ultra is a little more than the Tiga, but there are cheaper ones out there that will be almost as bright. I get away with a 1W for normal use and it's more than enough.

Asked two, who didnt stock or seem keen on ordering.

Whilst I accept that LED technology is better than halogen etc, I dont see anyone really recommending them so prefer to stick with recommendations. Lumen output does seem good on them, but until I see other positive reviews would stick with something else. Weight isnt really an issue for me if its clipped to a belt or snuck in a backpack. Dont want to pay extra on top for an extension lead for the Petzl rather than have the back of my head weighed down with a battery pack

Have a look at the Tiga SL-05 (led lamp) you can get a cable that allows you to use the Tiga Batteries and they will last for ages. Also you can use AA's in the head band if you wish. (About £70 with the extension cable)
Great lamp:thumbs:

If you are dead set on the SL85 give Keens a call I would think they would have it.
