After a cracking day on Bank Holiday we decided to go over for a night session, again to the Narrows.
We arrived at the River with a brisk south-easterly blowing right in our faces.....i was already worried....the echoes of ' When the winds in the east the fish bite least',Ive had many sessions go wrong with the wind in this direction and to be honest it didnt fish anywhere near as well as last week although the fish count was very high, but most fish were whiting, some tiny and nuisance value.
I tried every trick in the book to try and winkle out a Sole but still no joy,I really dont think they visit this part of the Island v often.
However for the 1st time ever on my second cast i got a double shot of Bass with one sizeable.
The wind kept up allnight and make things awkward really,i stopped for a kip at around 1.30am while Rob had an hour in the river, resulting in just one bite in about an hour and a half.Total fish count was 40+ whiting (4 sizeable we kept) 3 bass & 1 eel.
Fished again from 7.30am-10am with just a couple more whiting so decided to call it a day even though loads of bait left.
I would just like to quickly add how unthoughtful some of the speedboat brigade are in the river when they could clearly see us in small open boat,it rocked like hell a couple of times coming back which was a bit scary, ahhhh well theyll be gone soon and the Cod will arrive,we hope
