A friend of mine down the boatyard has recently retired & is downsizing from a Colvic 20.
He is looking at buying a 16ft Plymouth Pilot with a nearly new 15hp Honda 4 stroke outboard on it.
What he doesn't know is what fuel economy to expect from the motor at both around 2/3 throttle & wide open.
I have no idea as my boat has a diesel.

Also as he will be keeping the boat on a mooring how tolerant are outboards of not being flushed with freshwater after each use ?

Any info much appreciated.

I'd take a stab at about a gallon an hour. No probl with an outboard on a mooring and nit being flushed. Every outboard in our harbour is in the same situation and loads and loads more all round the country ( well the world I guess). Some in our harbour are still going after 20 years if only being flushed at the end of the season when the boats come out for winter.
