Put some new plugs in it.

If that doesn't work then, really no insult intended here, but if you've got a Chrysler and don't know how to work on it yourself, use it as an anchor and buy something less awful. The cost of getting an engineer to look at it will exceed its value by the time he's finished reading the name on the cowling.

true when it comes to the older engines unless you can fix it your self then it isnt worth thinking about engineers as nos4r2 said put your money towards a better engine and sell your one for spares or repairs youl be amazed how much you will get for it on flee bay if some one wants parts for there engine
hope you get sorted :sun:

But absolutely correct, Chrysler, Westbend, Perkins outboards, & McCulloch chainsaws are excellent rough ground anchors!:whistling:

Taken from the sticky on buying outboards at the top the WSF boating section - have a read of main post for full detail.

"Chrysler and Force- Badly built down to a price using old technology so they fall apart. Any still running are a miracle-they are absolutely awful and spares availability is as bad as the engines.Force Brand ceased to exist over 15 years ago,Chrysler branded outboards have been out of production for over 20 years. Force are mostly Chrysler parts-I can't emphasise enough how bad these engines are.. Don't touch it unless you're absolutely desperate and it's as good as free. Pay no more than scrap aluminium price for them."

This was my experience of them. When i bought the previous boat it had a 30 on the back, obviously i wanted to get it serviced before i used the boat, mechanic came down and did all the usual bits and pieces, gave me the bill, from memory very expensive, and then said get rid of that as soon as possible, you cannot get parts if it goes wrong, sold it or part exchanged it for a Mariner 60,that was a dog, swapped that and some cash and got a Yamaha 50,stuck with Yamaha ever since.
