Just came back from the town centre and saw an add in the chippy that said ''Pacific Blue Whiting & Chips''£3.99.
Not caught any of these around this way whatever they are!...The add was going about them being enviromentally friendly can you believe?

Thanks Mick,I kept finding links to Blue Whiting,I couldn't find anything about ''Pacific''I expect they must be the same thing?...Strange though as they seem to live in the Atlantic and nothing to do with the Pacific!.......Oh well, like Swedish ABU.....Made in Taiwan!

It could be Vietamese Catfish, currently called Basa here in North America now. Last year they were selling it as grouper in Florida. One local dining room here told me, that thet were told by the food service industry that it came from Russia ....just google basa, and you will see....also sold as bocourti. It comes from Mekong River Delta in Vietnam ...........I'm an haddock man myself.

Just ask the person the real name of the fish...then google it. :secret: :yucky:
