Fishing in my first meet for the old gits against the young lads on L/L just to the left of Pakefield church.

Struggling to bring traces in without losing tackle made it a difficult start to the day. A quick discussion with pennman who popped along, confirmed I was fishing around one of the snaggy spots and the loss of four traces confirmed this. Changing trace styles and ending up with a flowing 5 foot trailer with 2 no 4/0 fine wire hooks seemed to cure the problem.

Plenty of bites followed throughout the day with fish coming all through the ebb. The bigger fish for me prefered lug tipped with rag with most of the undersized codling coming on straight lug. My best fish of the day was a 4lb 1 oz codling with my second weighing 2lb 2oz. There were several other codling caught all around me of similar size with a few sizeable whiting caught to. The sea was perfect for cod with a breezy North Easterly stiring the water.
