what planet are you on
most of money will be swollowed up in admin
plus
they grudge paying £1 for a sea trout one
I would really like to believe that our money would be put to constructive use towards conservation etc.
But would always have reservations on buying a licence. That said, if it was law then i would have to i suppose..
I would be in FULL agreement with a sea license if;

1/ I t was well policed ( to stop bass bandits etc)
2/ The money was all put into conservation
3/We as sea anglers had a voice which was heard in the big scheme of things

Otherwise...........*$*£ off

but would it not stop the wee boy that at seaside with his family , buying a little rod and trying 2 catch , theres 1 lost sea fisherman
in england you dont need to buy a rod license till the age of 11yrs old
there is not a snowballs chance in hell that this or any future government of this country could make this work its just another excuse to put the hems on us and get us to part with our cash .I for one will not be bying any licence to fish in waters that have been and continue to be ravaged by all and sundry if they really had any intensions of saving our fish stocks they would have done it by now.jimbo
As it states in the article an estimated 1.1 million people take part in angling contributing 1.3bn to local economies and Mr Brown wants his share of it.
How many millions would 1st have to be spent on(as already mentioned) admin/staff/training.If this goverment department performs as well as the others it would never be self sufficient, and any tax collected would get no closer to the sea than child maintainance to the kids. Marine rod licence :uhuh: :uhuh: :uhuh:

Totally agree with you sandi at the end of the day we all contribute to the local economies buy some means or another (i.e. vat on fishing tackle, petrol) so that Mr Brown and the rest of his government get there share of it. I say stuff the government and leave it as it is.

See you back on the boat next week.

Andy.
a sea fishing licence is a con , it simply isnt the same as paying to fish a stocked mannaged water
are we to believe that paying to sea fish would mean improved stocks of cod and better faccilitys to fish from ,i dont think so lets see what happens south of the border as a result of the rod licence ,very little i imagine
another sherrif of notingham idea to get cash hey mr brown how about taxing football fans

We shall defend our right to fish free, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender.

Agree with Churchill here, he was taking about Sea Fishing liscence.
