Hi guys,

Not an exciting question but never the less one I'd like your opinions on, please.

I've just bought a Penn Affinfity 12-20lb boat rod, I think it's been laying around for a while, but it came with a good solid rod holder and it feels like a nice rod to me. What are your opinions on it please?

Secondly, I'm thinking of partnering it with a Charter Special 2000. I'm a novice and like to concentrate on my catch rather than placing the line so I need the level wind. I will be fishing inshore upto to maybe 80-90 metres deep but mainly less than 30-40m. And I don't think I'm likely to catch much over 10lb.

So Charter Special and 15-20lb braid?

never used the tackle in question but i would go a bit heavier on the braid, i use 50lb but i'm mostly wrecking, i would think about 30lb will pull anything up your likely to encounter and youve got a bit extra for any abrasion, i would also recomend a shock leader of about 10m, 60-80lb to give it a bit of spring, you will lose much less fish than fishing direct to braid.
