All depend on the type of pirk mould you have you can buy either the Norwegian or straight wire from the following online shop it's about the cheapest I have found, 25p each.

i make all my own pirks, s/s tube filled with lead fish shaped norway pirks,

i use s/s welding wire if your shrewd like me go to a welding company and ask the for some 16 g s/s wire, most likely they will give you a few metres for free, then cut and shape your own,

actualy iv made so many pirks of my own and i"ve faced this problems such as your problem and the solution was as easy as so:
simplt i ve sillected a fishing hook with a suitable iye to my mold and i just trimmed the rest of the hook you will nead tow hooks each pirk.
