Come what ever I was going out in the boat fishing today , After giving myself head ache , Bullocks general see what's about ,Selsey poss Bass . Hayling bay see if I can find some Plaice . Well Hayling Bay won I would try for Plaice . Arrived with the tide ebbing and saw several other boats in the general area I had chosen . They were all anchored , I don't know how they did but with the very small tide I decided to drift and work the spoon . First 2 to 3 minutes saw the first Plaice on the deck , not huge about 30cm Dinner taken care of .Was just going to up hooks and go for a second drift and as I started to reel , wallop . Started working it up ,It kept diving straight down , BIG PLAICE . and it was , my two previous Plaice 5 lb and 5 . 4 lb . Got it to 3 feet under the boat and it shed the hook , silly be should have given him more time when he hit but brain was in neutral . That's when I started to cry . Not really I had a Ginsters Pasty and the world was ok again . had two more takeable Plaice after that but what surprised me , though not a huge haul
was just what a wide area they came from . Get some more weather like this and try again . Was a good day to be out ,

Off to buy a Ginsters tomorrow....having lost about 7 lures last week drifting for bass, I decided to anchor up and put a spoon and rag down on a double plaice rig..had a weird, nodding, wobbling and vibrating bite and the line started making its way uptide. On the end? A nice plaice and a codling...shame no bass but still some fish for tea..

Shame about the one that got away Mick but that gives you even more reason to get back out there. With the weather we're getting I think it's time to get a tan!

The Bream are showing over here so that's another option for you on the Selsey grounds

Happy hunting mate

Thanks for that Clive , I think they are showing quite well on Bullocks , and that's only about a 3.5 mile run from the mouth of Chichester . Hope you get plenty of chances to enjoy the weather Clive .Just checked ( DO NOT DO THINGS FROM MEMORY ) Closer to 4.5 miles .

All the very best mate .. Mick.
