Okay guys

I have finally managed a day off in lieue (in lieue of what I am not sure  ).

I have ditched the rather daft idea of nipping up to Birmingham for a day out at "GO carp Fishing" in favour of giving Quest II a day out.... her first in a very long time so I will have to evict the sea gulls again.

The question is:

Mid channel wrecking or Shambles Plaice?

Mid Channel has been off and on this Winter and the fat fish should now have spawned, but we will be fishing blind as no one wreck currently holds any guarantee of doing well.
There is a chance of an early Ling and we will be heading in the general direction of our Ling wrecks.
We'll have a long steam West to get a really good chance of catching.

Plaice? Reports from Pompey up to the Skerries are saying the plaice are there, but still in small numbers and still very thin and watery.
Nice easy days fishing in a medium tide and a short steam of only 7 or 8 miles.

What would you guys do?

I would go for the wrecking Tom, I want to feel a hard fighting fish on the end of my rod, not a tap, tap, tap of a scrawny flattie.

Terry if you hook one of the Shambles 5lb fish (all skinny see through and 1.5lb at the moment) it goes as well as any wreck Pollack and better than most Turbot.

Tom - you've said it yourself - "all skinny and see through at the moment" - go wrecking and wait another month or so for the plaice to get fatter. We caught a couple of plaice off the Skerries yesterday and whilst they are in, they're not in in large numbers and they are very small at the moment.

What about the beers you promised to buy me if I wrote nice things about your boats in sea angler?
I have a few £10 notes to pass to the back of your hand Dave!
...actually we are talking boats, make it £20's.

Dave, I've sent you a PM if you fancy a trip out on Friday.
I am erring towards the wrecking as it is a while since something large hung on the end of my rod.

Dave

Everyone knows I bribe you anyway.
Haven't you seen the current thread on the "General" forum about tackle reviews in Sea Angler?

...notice you managed another dodgy photo (you are giving me a complex), the one with me draped across the cabin vee berth is straight out of a porno....

The news from another forum and my experiance is:

Saturday all day wrecking 2 people 2 pollack 2 pout
Sunday all day 8 people - no fish from the wrecks
Monday/Tuesday similar story for 2 people with 5 or less pollack and apparently one charter boat crossed the channel and got 5 pollack amongst 5 anglers for there trouble.

Would try something else at the moment!

If you go to the Shambles then I can read your report and decide wether or not to do the same on Saturday! I think it's very public spirited of you, personally!:)
