Mountbatten pier is not a bad venue, Fish at about halfway up the left side of the pier facing toward the Breakwater. A little bit of kelp lies a couple of feet below the surface at this spot so expect a few snags but if you wana risk it you could be in for some pollock, wrasse and dogs.Be prepared if its a sunny day though because it does tend to get a bit busy. Other half decent spots include anywere along Devils Point, West Hoe Pier( Parking a Pain ). There are plenty of tackle shops around Plymouth but be careful because some offer some terrible live bait.
For access and opening times theres Clives tackle and bait on Exeter St, But personally i find his Live worm baits of a terrible quality. You could try Rods and sods at The Rocky Pindar boatyard. But if you know Plymouth a little bit there is a shop at St Budeaux Square. Its small, friendly and offers good bait at a resonable price. There's a fishing shop on the Barbican called Trader Jacks which is'nt to bad and if you wander around the mariner and speak to the Skippers of the charter boats you can get yourself some live shrimp/prawn.
Enjoy your weekend and i hope you catch loads!.:)
