i visit a different part of Cornwall each year and enjoy fishing for pollack and wrasse from the shore. In previous years i've always had to trek a long way for fresh bait and fishing advice, but this year i'm staying near the harbour in Porthleven. Great i thought - the tackle shop is within walking distance so i won't have to go all the way Penzance for my bait. WRONG!!! i just found out the tackle shop in Porthleven has closed down, and so has the one in Helston.. D'oh!! So first, does anyone know if there is anywhere closer than Penzance for fresh ragworm, and maybe crab, what are the good shore marks around Porthleven for wrasse and pollock, and if next week is still a bit early for decent shore fishing?
