Hi All
I am coming out to the Portmagee area for a few days break in early September and planning on doing some rock fishing in the area.
Can anyone recomend anywhere specific to try and any tactics?
(planning on spinning/working sand eels/red gills etc mainly at the moment)
Also would like to try and get a days boat fishing subject to weather-are there any skippers locally that will take out individuals without the need to charter a whole boat?
Any local advice appreciated.
Thanks

Hiya,

Just got back from that area. A lot of the marks are hard to explain. An easy one to find is the one at Kells Bay. Drive down to the beach and you will see a pier. Look out to the right and you will see some rocks. Fish here for doggies, mack, gar, pollock and maybe bass. A lot of the beaches around waterville are good for bass and flatties too.

Give me a call if you want more info.

If you don't mind a bit of mud, Try fishing in the Portmagee channel at low tide - it used to be good for Bull huss and thornbacks ( I had several of both there one session about 10 years ago).
