can anyone help me , need to lift the powerhead up on my Johnson 15hp so that i can get to the bottom bolt on the water jacket to remove the thermostat. anybody got any advice please

I dont know that engine, but on my mariner 40 it was easy, drop the gear linkage off, undo the 6 large bolts underneath the power head from through the leg, lower the leg enough to get at the bolts under the powerhead.

The hardest thing was lining the water pipe up when re assembling.

This is prob nothing like your engine though, so apologies if i am talking rubbish, hope someone on here knows that engine.

t5hanks for replies guys , its a 15hp Johnson sea horse long shaf , i think its a 1984 but not sure.
the numbers on the plate are:

Model no.J15BALCRM

sERIAL NO. 8015913

Johnson / Evinrude,,,,,,,9.5 /15hp to same block !!
Here goes..
Fault..overheating etc
Exaust cover gasket leaking
Inner exhaust cover leaking
Thermostat cover leaking
Head gasket leaking
What temp u getting???

Remove starter from power head if necessary, & that gives access to power head ,remove thermo cap & replace faulty unit..........:help:
( Do U need to remove head from exaust housing if so PM me for manual instructions )
