Many years ago, as a mere sprog, I frequently fished Scarborough harbour, mostly catching billet, then slightly moved up the ladder to taking boat trips out into South Bay on the cobles ( we had to row the things ourselves.... ),when it seemed that dabs, lesser weevers, and the very occasional and highly prized codling were the creatures comng over the gunwhale. Bait and tackle were mostly obtained from Pritchards , bait mostly being shelled mussels, sold in compressed paper pots with lids on.
Does any of that stuff still exist, and is there honey still for tea ?
Cheers,
Davey.
