I would start off by just attaching them straight to the line.

You will find braid better to use in most cases though......

Loads to find and read up on this site and the web in general. I find the best thing to do is NOT to overcomplicate things.
Personaly I use a 4lb braid and a 3 or 5lb flouro leader. 3ft of leader tied on to the braid with a double grinner (uni) knot. Then tie on the hooks or lures directly onto the flouro. If you need to change lure cut it off and tie on another. If the leader gets too short cut it off and tie another. Simples. No unnecessary clips or additional weight. It's LRF so keep it light.

For me I would go for a 4-6lb quality braid. Flouro leader of 2-3ft and use a fast clip on the end for quick change [used in fly fishing for quick change of flies] small and very cheap for 10 or Le clip which are superb. I do tend to use the LeClips on cleaner ground as there not the cheapest. The thinner the braid the far superior it will fish especially with tiny jig heads and will cast a far old distance. When I first started I tried cheaper thicker line/braid and at times it was a struggle to get good presentation and distance making it less enjoyable.

When fishing Jigheads I more often that not use a uni knot to attach the jig. I find tying leaders and knots so easy these days its unreal and it takes so little time. Seeing as you are using a FC mainline you won't need to use a leader though.
A uni knot or rapala knot will do you and they are both easy to tie.

The only time I tend to use clips is when I am using casting jigs, spinners and small plugs.

I would highly recommend you learn to tie a dropshot rig, a Texas and Carolina rig also for your beginnings, these methods are an essential imo.
