Wouldn't putting rag inot a big bucket of sand and fresh sea water thats being changed frequently keep them alive for a long period

You don't really need the sand, use a cat litter tray filled with enough seawater to cover the worms - don't overcrowd the tray.

Frequent water changes and removing dead worms will keep them alive for a couple of weeks in a fridge.

I keep mine in a newspaper lined cat litter tray covered in vermiculite in the fridge where they keep quite happily for 10-14 days. After this length of time they start to dry out to resemble twigletts, though I have to say that one of the better nights fishing that I have had was using these "twigletts" as bait though they were a right swine to get on the hook :rolleyes:
