Had read a couple of recent catch reports from the shingle (many thanks) and decided to make the trip. MrsG was hoping for a few Macks and I was after a bass or 3.
Got to Cley just before dark. Not a sniff of a Mack on feathers so I set up a rod - 2 hook flapper with lug.
By the time I had set up the 2nd rod the Mrs had landed 3 bass!
This continued until HW, it then backed off for a whole 30mins. Then sport resumed until we finally ran out of bait at 4am.
Totally incredible fishing, our best ever by far. MrsG even had 2 whilst reeling in to re-bait!
Both rods were fished at 20 yards max.
Final catch was an amazing 60 Bass and 5 Flatties!
To be fair if I was reading this posting I would have my doubts, bearing in mind we only had about 10 undersize fish. Popped a couple of photos on, including the biggest and the Mrs just about to start cleaning them.
Went back the next evening but only had 7. 3 others were fishing and had similar. Also saw a chap walking past with a few macks at last light.
Crabs weren't too bad. Tweeked my rigs (no swivels, beads or clips - just tied everything course fishing style and seemed to help with the weed).
Thanks again for the recent catch report that promted us to go.
