Thanks to all who responded to my previous thread requesting info on fishing opportuities in S W Florida. The info was v. helpful and I have managed to do quite a bit of research.

During my visit I will be staying for 3 days in a property at the N end of Captiva on Redfish Pass( this was my wife's choice , could not have done better myself !) I wondered if anyone on the forum had fished this location from the shore and could give me a heads up on how to go about it and what to expect .
Thanks.

It's not an area of the Gulf I've personally fished. To supplement any other comments you might receive here let me suggest three other sources you might want to try:

http://www.shallowwaterangler.com/. It's the web site of a US magazine focusing on inshore fishing from Texas right round to Maine. From the home page try keying Captiva into its search facility - brought up reasonable number of references to articles.

http://www.tripadvisor.com. I've just linked to its Florida forum and tried searching on Captiva, fishing. The search brought up 39 pages of previous entries not all I'm sure will be relevant, but try a post on there.

http://www.reel-time.com. This is a very active web site for saltwater fly fishermen but obviously whatever you can catch on a fly is likely to take a lure or bait. Within its forums you'll find one specific to Florida. Again try a search, or a post. If found on here if you mention you're from 'this side of the Pond' you're likely to get a great deal of help from some very knowledgeable anglers.
