Do you need to bring them up ledges to where you're fishing or will you be able to land them at water level? Makes a big difference in whole approach to me .
Winching 8lbs pollock up 20 feet is a job for a big reel and set up. Although I've only done it on a big set up deep spinning, I wouldn't want to try on a little bass outfit and 2000 size reel
The slammer 3500 would be one of my options, also a Shimano saragossa or stradic in the 5000 size. I use both those Shimano reels on species far bigger than any pollack you are likely to encounter and have yet to have any issues with them. In saying that I use 3000 sized stradic's on various game species without issue but I think a reel that size would be a poor balance on a 9ft rod.
Not mentioned yet.
I have a Quantum cabu 40 for my heavier lure work.
Way over gunned for anything i will come accross
Its designed for serious salt water fishing and regularely used for sharks. So will handle anything we have here
