Got a converted 65 Chrome rocket with the level wind removed and a new flatbar cage, problem is removing the drive for the level wind in the endplate, I thought it was held in with a circlip, but this is not the case, seems to be pressed in, cant find anyway to remove it, be grateful for any help on this.:hammer:

Get a length of heavy nylon ... put two or three loose loops around the back and then wrap the ends round your (protected) hand - a sharp tug should get it off. There is a knack to it but it is a doddle once you get it sussed ... do be careful on your hand though as you can hurt bare skin!

The alternative if you are never going to need the post is to get hold of the very top with pliers and wiggle the post free of the side plate. It is only pressed in and the hole left in the plate is covered on the outside with the ABU badge.

Hi Dino, thought they used to be held on with a circlip, as I never normally bother with level wind reels this ( levelwind drive) seemed to be pressed on, didn't want to damage the sideplate !!!
did try the screw driver bit but seemed a little stiff.
