A number of RSA representatives have withdrawn from providing further support for the NetGain Project (the creation of a number of Marine Control Zones in the North Sea)
The reasons are varied, but we have no confidence in the likelihood of this project delivering its objectives in a clear and transparent manner as stressed by the project management, nor do we believe that stakeholders are being properly consulted in accordance with the manner in which this project was described at the outset.
In summary, we make the following observations:
* NetGain Project management pays only ‘lip service’ to stakeholder involvement.
* Lack of transparency in selection criteria & process used to determine who makes decisions
* Scientists lead but are unwilling to accept independent qualified scientific observers.
* Concerns recognised at highest level, but no change to adopted procedures
* RSA should withdraw support for further involvement
You can see the press release with full details of the process and our involvement to date by going to this link:

if you wish to comment directly, you can email the secretary at [email protected] or contact our ELSAA / NetGain Liaison Co-Ordinator and Vice-Chairman Keith Mountifield.
