This was just posted on the WSAC Facebook page. The pier management couldn’t have been more fairer in my opinion.
As you are probably are all aware the pier suffered some damage in this years winter storms.
At the moment the pier isn’t allowed to open until May 17th because of Covid rules, before they can opened, the pier management and maintenance men will assess the damage and check the rest of pier for damage. If the pier is safe leading up to the damage area, then as soon as possible the pier company will open up for fishing, hopefully on the 17th May, up to the damage area which will be fenced off, this will be for both day ticket fishermen and season ticket holders, allowing 24 hour fishing for gold season ticket holders and 9am to 5pm on a day ticket anglers.
Once the damage can be properly assessed then a plan of attack will be decided for the rest of pier.
The pier and club are both fully aware that members payed a lot of money to fish the pier and top of pier for the year and although this Covid rubbish isn’t in any way the pier or clubs fault, we are aware that anglers have lost 5-6 months fishing on the pier. So I am very pleased to announce that the pier is going to allow Current holders of fishing membership cards to get next year free, so their season tickets won’t run out until September 2022. This will also apply to keys for the club area at top of pier also.
So a massive thank you to the pier company for this great gesture. Thank you.
Fingers crossed the damage isn’t that bad.
