After hearing reports of rays coming from sandown Friday evening we decided to give it a go. Bait was sandeel squid and mackerel on clip down rigs fished at distance.
As just after low water I started to get a few bites on squid but couldn't connect, so changed rigs on one rod, smaller hooks and strips of mackerel or squid, after 10 minutes I was rewarded with this hard fighting black bream.

The evening wore on but bites were not forth coming, I managed a turbot of 1.5lb plus a Pout and my mate blanked.
no rays this time but a lovely mild evening and good company.
All fish were returned alive.
