Seagull Tackle was done over last night by some bunch of thieving lowlife. I know Tony well and he has worked really hard in recent years to build the business.
Please give him your support as he sorts out the aftermath.

Well mr COX words fail me at this point. JEEEZUS.
Bad timing Sam. I will keep an ear out at my school someone will know something. I can put feelers out on the quiet.

Tony is a top bloke abd local councillor. We should support him during this time.

Though still waiting for the police to show up (an hour after the call!) Tony seemed in a positive mood and still took the time to sell us some top quality bait late this morning!
Hope he bounces back soon, Tony said that he hoped to be trading normally by the afternoon.
Hope he continues to receive the support he'll need in tough times like these?

Very sad to hear.

I hope that Tony was insured, that his unsurers pay out quickly, that they catch whoever is responsible and that the court deals with them properly instead of just patting them on the head and sending them on holiday!

IMHO if you buy stuff that is obviously stolen YOU are as bad as the THIEVING VERMIN that did the crime. Lets all hope the scum who did this have a short and unhappy life.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:
Like they say, if there were no handlers there'd be no thieves.

Don't want to get into a debate about whether Sam was right or wrong BUT we didn't have a burglar alarm and on 1st February last year we had a domestic burglary...had an alarm fitted within a week.

It is a great shame to hear this and I hope who ever done it get the right punishment as Sam says a alarm system would be ok I know the damage is done but sure have one fitted to prevent it from happening a second time and as of any gear knocked you Probly don't see it as there are a number of ways to getting rid of it now a day through eBay different area of the country or county adverts in papers and magazines

Very bad luck Tony, I have only got to know him recently on my recent return to sea angling; I trust he was insured and that the insurers don't take ages to settle; watch out for his stock popping up on Ebay, if there is anything recognisable a call to the police would be in order; over decades we have lost so many tackle dealers and we need tackle dealers of Tony's calibre.

I feel really sorry for Tony, I was in his shop buying stuff earlier this week. The real problem is that even if the scum that did this get caught (which sadly they probably won't), they will not be punished. If they get ordered to pay compensation they won't, and when they don't pay it they won't get punished for that either!

Low level law and order is on the point of collapse because no-one in power in ANY political party wants to send any of the the bad guys to jail. If you fiddle your VAT or Taxes you're off to prison, mug someone or steal their car or burgle their place and you will get a meaningless community sentence.

I despair for the future, Cops have to deal with really bad things that most people don't ever experience but new Coppers (like my niece) get paid just £19,000 to do it when you can get £26,000 doing nothing and living on benefits. (Rant over).

I hope you get your stuff back Tony.

Have just spoken to Tony to offer Our support, as fellow shop owners in this trade do after this sort of event. Although We are in competition with one another in some respects, We do have an affinity and a ' tackle trade brotherhood' regard for each other, and of course We will help each other in any way We can. We are , after all , a 'dying breed' as someone else has already pointed out.

Although insurers do take care of most of the financial loss there are other problems that are not always obvious, the distress caused is by far the worse but there are also the loss of earnings till replacement stock can be sourced, immediate security of shop until repairs can take place then the building repair costs themselves , the damage and loss of to fixtures ,(Tony informed Me that the thieving scum even took the reel display case that forms part of the counter ) the list goes on and on .

Please support Tony in any way You can , every little helps. It goes without saying that should We be offered any new tackle by walk ins, the appropriate action will be taken, and authority's notified. Please keep a look out for any new gear being offered at 'knock off' rates and do the same . Thank You. Pauline and Mick.
