I actually cant belive there isnt a Seaford thread from last night, there were sooo many anglers on the beach last night ive never seen it so busy! Was about 15 people just up martello end! Anyway fished with 4 rods variety of bait, caught 2 poutig on worm which were used as livebait. Fished from 5 till about 2 o clock over HT at 12.30. Apart from the pouting we had nothing else. As light was fading took knocks on every rod every 5 minutes but no hookups. Took a large strike on the live pout rod but nothing once checked and the pout had gone! As far qas I could see not a single fish was bought onto the beach! What going onnnnn!

Ahhh right. Was thinking about trying again tonight but I dont know what I was doing wrong last night!
Its not so much about doing things wrong, more about understanding what the cod are about. These early fish are alsmost always full of crab, and with the crab moult still limping along, if you didnt do all your crab stocks chasing hounds, then tipping your fresh out blacks with crab will see you with a much higher chance of an early cod. Fishing wrapped black will find you some fish, but fishing fresh outs wth crab will see you with a lot more....!! If you cant get hold of crab, tipping with live razorfish I have found to be a close second, on our patch.

I need a baitpump!!! Havent been able to lay my hands on any crab either. booo. What about other fish? I had nothing on lug usually they perform! I was told they were fresh but when I got to the shop they were the plastic packed type, preserved I think. Tough as old leather boots and full of sand...

i was by the beach today (walked over the head to cuckmere), there were probably about 30 or so anglers that i could see, maybe half a dozen who were fishing and not flinging though, so maybe some of them will report?

Been out all day so didn't get a chance to report from last night - not that its worth much.

Fished just East of Beachcomber from 7pm through until about 1.30am. Dire is not the word. Used two rods, one with black and one whole squid. Apart from some Pout (which went back as live bait), all I had was one Whiting which was retrieved on someone else's lost rig which my gripper snagged.

it needs a blow to colour it up i think thats all, seaford is almost a typical storm beach it loves a good lump on it then it should fish its head off, there were plenty of pouting there at ten or twelve feet out on old black last night and more than enough mackeral to keep the bass busy,i foul hooked a g grey five feet out whilst fishing for pouting it nearly ripped the rod out of my hands before shaking the hook off,and the thick lips were there in numbers taking off the top if anyone had a fly rod between 6-pm and dark down there they would of had some good sport,it seems that a majority were fishing on the bottom at range or bassing with a plentiful supply of food already down there(me included)

Makemineadouble,
Xcweather is predicting a couple of days of wind out of the west, so should put a bit of surf on the beach at Seaford. And hopefully get some of the bigger bass on the move again. Don't get to excited though winds back from the NE by the end of the week.
