Silly o'clock is such fun...........!!! Numpty sales manager called a meeting on a FRIDAY....Muppet !
To a lesser mortal that would have been a problem but Jean Luc Tappard eats razor wire and ps napalm. Alarm at 2.50 Saturday am ! On the hallowed shingle for low water at 04.21 hours, surprisingly, had the beach to myself !
Had done a Tonto on Tuesday, you know, old camp fire ashes, rolling horses pooh and dried seaweed, the ritual, leaves, paper and ignition. I know I bang on about reading the beach, go take a look, I love it when a plan comes together.
Fresh lug and rag from Prime, some superb sticky (home brew), slippers, squid and sand eel.
Simple plan 3/0 single hook rig,big bait till light with a size 1 3 hook flapper likewise then back to by the numbers 2s n 4s 3 hookers for a flat, hopefully spotty, something.
Out with lug n squid head on the big hook on the the big stick and medium range with the 1s.
It wasn't ting n ling central for a change and a decent rattle on the big bait resulted in the first doggie I have ever weighed, 45 cm at 1lb 2oz.

Followed by a little ting and a colin on the flapper.
Beautiful start to daylight and a double rig change.
Sky Fishing rod Angling Horizon Casting (fishing)
Sky Fishing rod Horizon Sea Evening

Long range produced a succession of small ting and 2 more slugs(biggest 7 oz)

so............as I always say.......it's easy to fish too long at Seaford and I went for the 50m plop with the size 4,s and an interesting bite but no fish. Back out.........same bite and hello........in comes a decent 35 cm spotty weighing in at an even pound on sticky n squid.

Same bite next chuck for no return and there they were …......gone.
T T'd about with a blingy wishbone size 1's for 2 hours when the sun came out and had a slack liner on rag but no hook up. Went stupid short to shoulder strain long for a few more tiddly tings and finished on 1 doggy, 11 tings, 4 slugs and the spotty.
First flat fish of 2014, I don't believe it ! Domina enjoyed fresh plaice on a bed of rice with a bacon and spring onion jus for tea. Very pleased !
Cracking session, well worth the early morning call. Commander FJM stopped by for a chat which was nice. Cheers Bud

Great report as usual Steve. Love the piccies. Those early sessions are very therapeutic. Doesn't matter what you catch at that time of day. just being out and watching the sun rise is enough. Although the fish are a bonus!!!

Nice Report Steve - great pics - never thought to weigh in one of my bigger dogs the other night but the IOW wasn't invited at that
stage:boxing:
Thanks Mate
Do you know, I have never weighed a doggie before, I have had some lumpy ones over there so I might just take the time to get the scales out. Good to see the pile of Wight in the fray and look forward to some pics.

Nice one Steve,i drove past about 5 am guess it was you on the beach.
Nearly stopped off to see who it was but was on the way to work.
Great pictures,and a nicely written report,thank you.
Thanks TG
It was 'only me' at that time. Thanks for the updates on the flags of doom. Could just make out at least 1 orange float/buoy at distance to the west of the last flag. 2 different boats about early doors but they were a long way out.
Cheers bud
