Yeh I read it, it's nothing new, they have been known to have been a huge problem for years, cuddly or photogenic they may well be, but it doesn't get away from the fact that they eat a colossal amount of fish..........:secret:

If anyone is really serious about conserving UK fish stocks then the seals need culled, simple as, otherwise we are all peeing in the wind........hard.................yeh possibly, but cold hard reality often is hard.........:fish:

is it just a polite way of saying masacare?...

id happily never see a lazy greedy blob of flubber again swimming and pinching my fish from my hook,
also heard there great for target practice

It is, but done in a very controlled and as humane a manner as possible, definately not as in cowboy fashion in tother thread.........

i think the com boats are more of a problem my self, catching more than there quota and dumping tons of dead fish but that seems to be fine as long as they can still fish...out of site out of mind

obviously as the fish stocks have dwindled then the seals take of what's left has grown in proportion.
the comment about discard is VERY valid also.

Balanced policy is required - something we may have a long wait for though.

Yup have to agree with that comment, there always seems to be other causes for low fish stocks but no mention of what is more likely the root of the problem.... Man and the crazy beaurocracy that gets dished out.

that would be inhumane,
killing a seal or just shooting it in both eyes for taking a fish that could possibly be the only fish of the day to feed the family is understandable... were top of the food chain

You are correct Keen Fisher but commercials are manmade and responsible no matter what some like to think. I have heard the same ****e about Seals from Salmon fishers for years beforehand and they got on my tits with their self-interest whilst ignoring the bigger problems that lay elsewhere. Seals where about when there was millions of Salmon running our rivers mans greed is the problem not the Seals.

i have no argument about the seals mate i know they can be a problem but i quite like watching them and all nature.:thumbs:
