Well, fished the pier again. Long line of gulls picking sprats out of the water, water was full of them. Never seen so many seals off Suffolk coast. Lots boats fishing about 500yards off end of pier, be interested to know what they caught.

Targeted flatfish, three hook traces, small baits, was similar to the whiting fishing in September. 49 dabs, 5 whiting and 2 rocking, 51/2 hrs fishing. Was exhausted due to constant casting, reeling in, re baiting and strong southerly wind keeping temperatures down. All caught lug and rag worm. Great entertainment. All dabs 20 - 22cm apart from couple of larger ones. Looks good for future stocks. When sprats gone and mature fish return should be into some good fishing end of Feb/March.

Seals love a dab! Sounds like hard work. I did similar last yr with big whiting, dabs and flounder. Went from 2 rods with 3 hooks to one rod with two and about 11 stone (ish) to 10 ;-) . Nice report thanks.
