As the mackie seem to have gone I fancy trying an evening tide for other species at Whitby next week. Should I hit the west pier for possibly whiting, billet and flounder or try my luck on the east for pollack, billet and codling, though I did catch a nice flounder (1 1/2lb) a month ago from here. Got the baits, rigs (thanks to some kind people on here) so raring to go!

The mackerel may turn up again if we have a period of settled weather, in the mean time try both the piers and see what you can catch. Billet, flounders etc are all fish at the end of the day.
