Just a quick report
.
Fished on Seren Y Mor Tuesday with Daihook, Pennar Pointer, a mate from my village and 4 friends from Bournemouth/Poole.
Due to unreliable forecasts, we decided to cut our losses and concentrate on a bit of friendly rivalry, by having a 4 man England v Wales match. Thanks to Pennar Pointer for suggesting it and for supplying the scoresheets.
1st off we anchored a bank, and Pennar was off to a flier by boating the 1st 2 fish of the competition a lovely small eyed ray and a turbot. After a quiet spell, we headed in for a go at the triggers, where Pennar increased his lead by boating a trigger. On this mark we managed red gurnard too.
With the weather improving we steamed out to another mark, and were all straight into a mixture of bull huss, dogs, pout, poor cod, mackerel, scad, black bream & a surprise baby tope.
Next move was to another bank where we discovered that the SE rays were on the feed. Around 30 or so were boated within an hour and a half or so! No big ones unfortunately - biggest went 8lb.
The final move was back in for a crack at the triggers, but unfortunately we couldnt get amongst them! The guys on Dominator (anchored about 200yards from us) were pulling them in regularly ..but it wasnt to be for us, however we did pick up a few nice bream.
All in all an excellent day afloat, with plenty of fish, 12 or so species, and plenty of banter. I think Ian has some pictures of the day.
Thanks to Kevin for an excellent day afloat - he worked hard for us all day
Oh yeah ..Wales hammered the English team! :clap2:
Roll on the rematch!
