You shouldn't slacken the drag off too much, it allows oil to get into the friction material, if you are using a star drag back it off 1/2 to 1 full turn, next time you use it return the drag to where it was.

hello guys , when im not using my reel i slacken off the drag . When would you suggest the best time to re set it, if on the boat how easily could this be done cheers .

Thanks chris for that, one more thing on my 30lb main line what should i set my drag to in lbs cheers .
I always back the drag off when casting - how many times I have forgotten to put the reel into free spool I dont know but at least now I dont get crack offs and keep my terminal tacle for the next cast even if I do loose my bait.
