Hi folks,

Looking for some advice please.

Was fishing a match at Southwold at the weekend and managed to crack the middle section of my Shakespeare K2 Red Metal (4.5m version). Been in contact with the shop I bought it from and he tells me the rod is discontinued and no spare parts are available. Unfortunately, I bought the rod on 30th Aug 08 and fished the match on 12 Sep 09 (just out of the years waranty... doh!). The guy in the shop seems to be doing all he can to get it sorted but I suspect he'll draw a blank on a replacement section. Clearly, he's not offering me a refund, although he has offered to sell me a replacement rod at a 'good' price.

Does anyone know where I might get a replacement section?

Can the section be repaired? It went crack just above the join with the butt section. Still in one piece but unable to cast properly.

Alternatively, I guess I'll just have to put it down to experience!

hi swervy
had the top section on my k2 blue metal break about six inches down, took it back to the shop [avanue angling ,norwich] and he sent the tip back to shakespear, five days later a brand new tip f,o,c i think the rod was about 18 months old when this happened, get the shop owner to get in touch with shakespear and see what they will do ,if it is the carbon at fault they should replace f,o,c if they still have stock
hope this helps

Thanks for the advice gents,

Having done a little digging, as Neelix suggests, it would seem the Penn Affinity Twin Tip is the exact same rod but with different branding. I'll info the shop owner and hope he can work something between the reps.

Thanks again for your input.

A guy on a Belgian beach fishing forum had the same problem with 2 of his K2' red metals, alot of people had this problem with those K2's. Sounds like they had some serious manufacturing problems with this line of rods. No doubt it's the fault of the manufacturer so IMO you shouldn't have to pay for any replacement part/rod.
